Sad with GG

Today I saw one old episode of GG and I noticed something I didn't before... In this episode Doyle is sick and Paris brings her nanny to take care of him. Then she says the nanny only speaks portugese.

Well, I am portuguese and I can tell you she was speaking spanish. It truly makes me sad that people don't understand that Portugal and Spain are two totally diferent countries with two diferent languages...

I mean american people get angry when people mix up english from America with english from England, so how would you feel if people mixed up english with french???? Not so good, hein?

Sad...

Yeah, that's kind of sad. I didn't notice it, I don't speak Portuguese nor Spanish...

but I know that in "A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving", Claude and Monique Clemenceau, Richard's and Emily's French friends, can't be French at all... they do speak French, but with a heavy accent of Americans or at least, English-speakers!

Yea I know what you mean about not liking them mixing it up. I'm Brazilian so I understand Portuguese from Portugal and I just laugh when they try to speak it lol. And another thing that is annoying is when they ask me if I speak Brazilian but that's another subject lol.

the other thing is that when Rory & Paris first start Yale, Paris tells Rory that she 'lost' Nanny over the summer... remember?

I think they know the difference, they probably just thought no one would notice. You can't expect t.v. shows to be perfect.

ok you need to calm down, its not some slam to your language. mabey the actress they chose for the nanny didnt speak portuguese! and fyi theres no difference between american english and english english, its only some slang, just a cultural difference. but no, its no slam on you, most viewers speak english, and they cant tell a difference. and portuguese just sounds like a drunken Spaniard speaking, not really that difference, i just dont get why your offended

Weird to find out this way. I speak spanish... and that wasn't spanish so I assumed it was portuguese

However, I'd like to point out that in the first season when Paris goes to Rory's house for the first time and is invited to stay over and have a mac and cheese, she calls her nanny and only that time she speaks perfect spanish.

Later it is established that her nanny is portuguese, so I thought it was a change of heart from the writers, much like the change of name from Dick to Kirk, and since it was made in the first season no one will notice or mind it that much.

Then, all these years later turns out it's not even portuguese. Gee
